About the Author
Lois
A. Vitt, Ph.D. is a housing expert and financial sociologist. She
founded and directs the Institute for Socio-Financial
Studies,
Middleburg, VA, an organization engaged in strategic program and
evaluation research in consumer financial education. She teaches
university courses in the social psychology of finance and the finances
of aging, and she is Editor-in-Chief of the 2-volume Encyclopedia
of Retirement and Finance.
Dr. Vitt pioneered the development of financing instruments for home buying; presented her research on the social and emotional benefits of homeownership to professional groups in North America, Europe, and Asia and has worked throughout her career to make homeownership more accessible. She is a consultant to organizations on consumer finance and financial literacy education.
Dr. Vitt received an MBA from Pace University , New York, and an MA and Ph.D. from American University in Washington, DC.
